They invented the B8 Alloy cymbals, such as the 2002s, Giant Beat, RUDE, which are widely used in popular music today. Paiste Cymbals are made in Switzerland (with the exception of the 101, 201, PST 3 & PST 5 series that are made in Germany) and they are handcrafted to perfection. Series Description: Paiste first pioneered colour-coated cymbals with COLORSOUND 5 in 1984 as a means for artistic expression during the time period when popular music became visual in music videos on television. In the 1990s the VISIONS series made an appearance, and in recent years certain artist-inspired models feature colour coating - Stewart Copeland's Blue Bell Ride, Aquiles Priester's Giga Bell Ride and Danny Carey's Dry Heavy Ride. The Color Sound finish was available for custom orders, including cymbals featured by international top artists Joey Jordison, Tico Torres and Paul Bostaph. With Color Sound 900, Paiste launches the latest incarnation in the colour cymbal saga.

The general effect of the Reflector finish on these cymbals is very subtle and may be summarised as follows:
• The sonic timbre and colour of these instruments is somewhat lower, which makes the cymbals feel a bit darker.
• The frequency range is wider due to the lower pitch of the fundamental note and higher overtones at the upper end of the frequency spectrum.
• The frequency mix is cooler and cleaner, as the high, middle and lower frequencies are more distinctly layered, due to the less dominant character of the middle layer - the «voice» of the cymbal.
